Usmle stands for “United States Medical Licensing Examination” step 1 is first of three exams that a person needs to pass in order to practice medicine in the United States of America. Usually medical students that have passed the second year exam have to appear and pass this exam. Students spend many sleepless nights worrying about step 1, as people rate that passing thins exam is quite tough. In this exam, they test a candidate’s ability to apply related sciences to resolve problems related to medicine. The paper consists of 322 questions in seven sections and you get exactly one hour to answer each question.

Many people think that they can prepare for the exams once they are through with their final exams and there is time enough, they are right in a way. After all, they are studying for the exam and once they have appeared in the exams they can use the same knowledge that they have gained to pass USMLE Step 1 also. The problem is that many people fail to take advantage of it. They tend to relax and lose their focus. When they finally start their preparation usually, they do not have enough time to prepare properly for the exams. Therefore, the first thing to do is to start with a viable study plan. As soon as med school exams are done. You should have a definite study plan that you should follow at all, times when you are preparing for USMLE. Another very important factor that you have to keep in mind is that you can join live prep classes both online and if they are available on a campus near you. In fact, many different organizations that help you in preparing for these exams offer both facilities to candidates’ from all over the world.

Online training is especially useful for the international candidates, as they usually do not have access to physical classrooms. Another way that you can get help in preparing for these exams is by buying the practice questions from one of the online resources.  The important thing to remember is that you need to do a thorough research into which source you should be using. As sometime, if you chose a test that does not offer the right kind of practice, it can seriously hamper your preparation for the exams. You should chose  the practice exams that have a proven track record of setting questions as close to the original examination questions as possible.

Another factor that you should consider before buying any of these tests is that they have clearly explained all the answers.  Not only there should be an ex0planation of the right answers, but it should also clearly explain the reasoning behind the wrong answers as well. You should have an abbreviated course summary of what you have studied in your two years at med school. At least of the parts that they are going to examine you about in USMLE Step 1, this is very important since you will not have to study in detail all the topics that you require. So start preparing, stay focused and relaxed you will do well.
